SCOPE supports the successful execution of The Telematics Applications Programme within the sectors of Authorities and Urban & Rural Areas. Both sectors are supported through User Group Support, Workshop activities, the compilation of Sector Specific Guidelines, and facilities to support Communication and Dissemination. The involvement of Users in projects is essential for guiding and assessing the work of the consortia and in participating during the verification and demonstration phases. The quality of User groups in terms of expertise, level of participation, and their commitment to exploit the results is vital for the individual projects and for the programme as a whole. For administrations, SCOPE ensures optimum User involvement by means of: - Evaluation of User participation - Development and implementation of strategies for strengthening User participation - Ensuring dynamic user group representation, aiding the identification of factors which may affect the exploitation of project results. For Urban & Rural Areas, SCOPE concentrates on activities aimed at supporting existing projects as well as new projects joining the programme, as follows: - Analysis of approaches used by projects in the definition of User needs - Development of good practice guidelines for User needs definition - Methods for translating User needs into specifications Report on tools and techniques for assessing the use of telematics applications. SCOPE provides sector-level support for Communication and Dissemination via: The maintenance of the Sector Specific Guidelines Support of the introduction of new projects to these sectors Experimental Desktop Video Conferencing pilot trials Support of remote project presentations (e.g. at Working Party meetings) over desktop video conferencing Maintain sector-level information dissemination services accessible via the WWW, including sector announcements, matters of common interest to projects, and an on-line adaptation of the Sector Specific Guidelines. Workshop activities address sector specific topics, e.g. Legal Aspects, as well as being used to support other project activities (e.g. User Group support). Project URL: http://scope.cscdc.be
