Deliverables

LAPIN has produced: 1- The LAPIN Information base. - An information system on professional and training requirements as expressed by European companies both in the short and medium term. The actual area of coverage includes different European Regions. Every region carrying data from census done by different organisations according to the same methodology, data are delivered according to either common (European) classification criteria or adopting local specific versions of classification. - An information system on policies and on successful actions undertaken in job promotion and training, capable of aiding the decision making process in public administrations (and other public and private parties operating on the labour market). The information content should allow the development of new initiatives based on detailed information on the existing situation in the local area and in the different regions of the continent. 2- The methodology for data processing and for the Quantitative Database construction to become a reference source for any wider project extension, either at a multi-regional level or at full country level. 3- The global methodology adopted to build a knowledge system from independent sources according to a common information profile. Consistently with user needs and to the principles cited above, LAPIN system design consists of different but integrated environments: i) Knowledge system base, that is a "place" designed to store pieces of knowledge helpful for labour market managing and regulating activities, and in particular: - "Case studies" describing best practices on labour market policies planning and running, and initiatives (projects, programs, action plans, etc.) undertaken at different territorial levels. - Internet resources (web pages) consistent with LAPIN objectives (i.e. html pages describing specific services provided by a given administration, or giving detail on a specific labour market policy and its tools. - Contact Cards providing details on "key-people" (or "key-organisations") all around Europe. - Useful Links, listing the most frequently accessed sites on Internet offering information relevant to the topics covered by the knowledge system. ii) Conferences (Forum), that is an environment where LAPIN users can bring themselves up-to-date about the "hottest" issues debated in the labour market arena, and provide their contribution to the general discussion. 4- The knowledge management system and the classification system by keywords. The LAPIN system is a powerful integrator of data and information archives, which differ by typology and technical features. It gives to the users the possibility to retrieve with a single query information any pieces of knowledge stored in a variety of archives, which otherwise should be consulted by means of different access modalities. The LAPIN system functionality provides the users with the opportunity to access an integrated platform of different kinds of information and to collect qualitative and quantitative information based on user needs. One of the major assets of the LAPIN system is the integration it provides between qualitative and quantitative archives, especially among the knowledge bases, which are the nuclear part of the system 5- The networked forum. Users are allowed to create new topics into the Lapin Discussion Group and to make contributions to existing topics created by other users. Topics have been organised into categories. These categories correspond to the four pillars of the labour policy in Europe.
