THE EFFECTS OF GOAT AND SHEEP GRAZING, SEPARATELY OR IN COMBINATION, ON THE ECOLOGY OF INDIGENOUS PASTURES WITH DIVERSE FLORA AND AGRICULTURAL SYSTEMS IN LESS FAVOURED AREAS

Objective

This concerted action proposal will enable scientists from different disciplines working in various countries to meet in Scotland and discuss current research as well as information on experimentation techniques on aspects of mixed grazing with sheep and goat. It is hoped that after this meeting joint experiments will be conducted to determine the grazing preferences and effects of goat and sheep grazed separately or together, on indigenous vegetation in varied farming systems, and in a range of ecologically important European habitats. While the proposers have identified a relevant subject area the proposal should be modified to include other institutes in different countries who have considerable expertise in this area.
