Objective
The Concerted Action will coordinate research into novel ELISA-based serological tests with the intention of developing assay(s) able to:
1. identify infection with any serotype of FMDV by means of a single serological assay utilizing non-infectious material as antigen;
2. identify animals, whether vaccinated or not, which carry FMDV and so constitute a disease risk; and
3. identify animals infected with FMD, whether vaccinated or not, which have cleared the virus and so no longer pose a disease risk.
The Concerted Action will finance workshops to instruct experts from throughtout the Community in the performance and interpretation of the assays developed.
