REDUCING OR ELIMINATING AGRO-CHEMICAL INPUTS IN EFFICIENT PRODUCTION OF HIGH QUALITY PRODUCE WITH CONVENTIONAL, SUSTAINABLE AND ORGANIC FARMING SYSTEM

Objective

The objectives of this proposal are to develop techniques and strategies for reducing the use of agro-chemicals by using spatially localised treatments and to develop prototypes. The general concept is to modify a conventional vehicle to :
- locate and identify patches of weeds and soil properties;
- to develop activators to apply mechanical and chemical treatments selectively, and;
- a control system to implement control on application strategies. Prototypes for grass weed patches in cereals and weeds in row crops, such as tomatoes, will be developed.
