Objective
The overall objective of the project is to improve packaging products (for favourable quality and favourable environmental performance) manufactured from:
- paper-based and paperboard-based sheet material and -forms,
- starting from renewable resources and recycled materials.
- Favourable quality : improved packaging products
- Packaging materials and -products will be identified that will benefit from:
- enhanced stiffness, with and without paper waste in their fibrous furnish;
- enhanced barrier properties (moisture, liquids) from applying polymer resins, manufactured from naturally occurring organic substances
The research programme will explore
- the suitability of fibrous raw materials (FRM) and other resources for targeted produce and products
- the applicability of some polymer compounds, from plant materials, for the same purpose and the research programme will endeavour to feature:
- re-use, extended life cycle and
- ability to recycle, bio-degradability.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
