Objective
The proposal aims at a harmonisation of a data and methods to assess globally and systemically the impact of changes in agriculture on the environment. Wheat is foreseen as a common reference product. On the basis of this case study, a comparison of methods is performed. The case study is performed in 2 steps:
- goal definition and an inventory of all pollutants over the whole chain of production;
- analyze and compare the compartmental and overall environmental impacts of different scenarios by way of multi-criteria impact assessment methods.
An example database will have been put together with a first proposal of methods harmonisation for Life cycle assessment in agriculture. The results will be discussed in a wider circle of researchers and industrialists, including representatives of the food, machinery and chemical industries together with agriculturalists and consumers.
