Objective
THE RESEARCH WORK PROPOSED CONSISTS IN THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF SET OF RADON CONCENTRATION MEASUREMENTS AND IN PARTICULAR:
- RADON FLOW FROM SOILS
- RADON CONCENTRATION IN CLOSED SPACES.
The investigations produced the following results:
the development of a number of detectors, capable of measurements of radon density in air;
the measurement of radon levels in building interiors, houses, cellars and wells with research concentrated on anomalous sites, where radon levels are hundreds of times greater than usual;
the measurement of radon density changes with time and their possible correlation with metereological and geophysical factors.
THE PROPOSER'S PROGRAMME IS BASED UPON THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF SERIES OF MEASUREMENTS, 10 AREAS SUCH AS PIANURA PADANA, ALPS AND APPENNINI MOUNTAINS. MOREOVER, MEASUREMENTS WILL BE EXECUTED IN AREAS SURROUNDING KNOWN THERMAL OR VOLCANIC ZONES (LOMBARDIA, PIEMONTE, VENETO, LAZIO, CAMPANIA). DURING THE RESEARCH, MORE THAN 3,000 FIELD MEASUREMENTS WILL BE EXECUTED AND MORE THAN 60 BUILDINGS IN INTERESTING AREAS CAREFULLY SCREENED.
