Objectif
DEVELOPMENT OF MATHEMATICAL STATISTICAL TOOLS FOR ANALYSIS OF LONG-TERM EXPERIMENTS IN ANIMALS - IMPROVED EVALUATION OF RADIATION RISKS TO HUMAN BREAST.
The dependence of carcinogenic risk on radiation quality has been investigated using data from total body irradiation by gamma-rays in comparison with 300 kV X-rays.
Mathematical statistical evaluation of data from animal and human studies has been carried out as well as further development of statistical methods.
The dependence of carcinogenic risk on radiation quality has been investigated using data from total body irradiation by gamma-rays in comparison with 300 kV X-rays. For the calculation of relative biological effectiveness (RBE) both malignant carcinomas and benign fibroadenomas have been used. The RBE as a function of dose was measured for similar cohorts irradiated at 8 and 17 weeks of age with a single dose, in addition to the fractionated experiments. It was found that the RBE of gamma-rays had a relatively large value for carcinomas in the cohort irradiated at 8 weeks but consistently lower values for the other data.
