Objective
To organize a workshop inviting European experts on mycology and molecular taxonomy in order to improve the status of fungal identification, and to draw up recommendations on the future of fungal identification within the European scientific and industrial community.
The workshop 'Fungal Identification Techniques' was held in Barcelona during the period April 5th -8th, 1995. 43 scientists from academia and industry participated from Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, Holland, England, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and USA giving a total of 31 talks and joining 2 round-table discussions on 'Fungal Identification Techniques - Current Status' and 'Fungal Identification Techniques - Application to complex samples'. All the speakers have contributed a paper for a proceedings, which has been published together with the recommendations of the project group.
