Ion transport and signal transduction pathways contributing to salt tolerance in plants

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Deliverables

A promoter directing expression of genes in cells of the stelar tissue of plant roots has been isolated. It normally directs the expression of a stelar-specific potassium channel and is strongly down regulated by water stress. It is exploitable to direct the expression of other genes in the stelar cells of plant roots. The promoter directs the expression of the Arabidopsis SKOR (Stelar K Outward Rectifier) gene that encodes a potassium channel that is important in loading potassium into the xylem. The gene is down-regulated by water stress and the plant hormone abscisic acid. Its cell specificity has been shown using the gus reporter gene.
