Objective
The project aims at disseminating at Kaiserslautern, Germany, a source-separated domestic biowaste dry biomethanation scheme, demonstrated at Brecht, Belgium in the innovative context of improved economic management of a sanitary landfill. Thus, per year 15000 tons biowaste and 5000 tons waste paper will be digested at 55 deg. C, for 20 days, at 35 % dry solids in a 2642 m3 Dranco digester to produce 63500 Nm3 biogas (55% methane) per week converted as CHP to 620 kW electricity. Process heat, also from extracted landfill gas cogeneration, will be used to dry the digested sludge used as compost.
