Objective
The IGD-GIS project will develop software tools and methods for a truly integrated genome information management and, where possible, reuse or interoperate with preexisting software. By management we mean semantic integration, efficient storage and retrieval, data access through query languages, textual and graphical browsing tools, and conventional programming language interfaces, access to a comprehensive set of data manipulation operations and tools, and support for making local copies of public data and managing them together with local experimental and unpublished data.
The IGD-GIS semantic schema will represent a comprehensive range of molecular biology concepts, structures, and phenomena, including data and experimental and analytical methods on molecular structures and sequences, genetic, physical and integrated genomic maps, phenotypes, bibliography, etc. The virtual space will be accessible as a single (logically) object database.
The project will explore the methods of machine learning and logic programming for developing added value tools for "data mining" and logical inference.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
