Objective
DUALETO project has fulfilled the objective to demonstrate the dual energy system and its relevant applications in the industrial field. The sensor developed within the project has shown its capability to select the different acquired energies in order to characterize the material that has to be tested. The measurement bench has been designed from research point of view, therefore it has not an industrial application. The software system has been designed on workstation (SUN SPARCSTATION) and it is able to carry out quick processings. The demonstration of the dual energy system advantages has fulfilled the consortium expectations.
The partners are carrying out additional tests and acquisitions in order to show the full capability of the system. The benefits which come from this project cover a wide range of applications and are innovative, in fact this new control method allows to discriminate different components in biphasic materials (composite materials). This system will be therefore one of the future non destructive examination systems for the new materials, the composite ones, both for what concerns organic and metallic matrix materials.
The objective of this proposal is to study and to realize a new concept of holographic interferometry for realtime investigation of vibrations. Up to now, two states of deformation of a dynamically stressed object are recorded on a hologram using pulsed lasers. These holograms have to be processed before they can be read into an image processing system and the vibration analysis can begin.
With the proposed project, a new image recording technique will be realized: Photorefractive crystals with immediate response to the laser light will take the place of conventional holograms, and a new principle of phase determination will replace the conventional phase shifting technique. It will thus be possible to record fringe patterns with double pulsed holography (pulse separation adjustable between 50 us and 800 us) on-line on a twin CCDE sensor, which is connected directly with the evaluation system. Computer based fringe analysis will alloy to visualize and to quantify the ofject deformation.
The interferometric realtime inspection system consists of the following devices:
- the photorefractive holographic recording head
- triggering and synchronisation unit
- fringe evaluation- and analysis system
The new instruments can be employed in industrial environment and allows new applications in the field of research and development, non destructive testing and study of material and design characteristics.
