DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF NEW PROCESS TECHNOLOGIES AND LASER EQUIPMENT FOR OPTIMATIZATION OF PROUDCT TECHNOLOGIES IN THE FIELD OF PRECIOUS METALS AND THEIR ALLOYS

Objective

The purpose of this project is to develop a new laser technology with specialized equipment which can largely satisfy the needs of the precious metal industry for advanced production systems. Required processes range from cutting, drilling, welding/soldering and surface decoration. Different characteristics are required for the laser equipment and these are to be integrated into a single installation. CAD/CAM facilities must be developed according to the very different geometries involved.

Precision cutting and soldering are process technologies frequently applied with precious metals. A cut quality which does not need any further processing can be achieved with the use of laser technology. Welding without addition of additive materials and autogenous welding of different materials with laser energy are feasible. Granulation technique will be less labour intensive when lasers are applied and could be mechanized to become a viable competitive production technology.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
