SUPERHEATERS MATERIAL TESTING FOR ULTRASUPERCRITICAL BOILERS

Objective

This project is aimed at testing new EEC materials for components of ultrasupercritical power plants. The use of advanced materials will increase plant efficiency by 6.5% and will reduce accordingly fuel consumption and emissions. The test will be performed with a rig installed on an operating coal fired power plant simulating the following conditions:

1. Internal pressure above 250 bar and steam temperature of 620 C;
2. Flue gas temperature of 940 C;
3. Flue gas environment containing ash,unburnts, chlorine, alkalis, sulfur components.

The material testing will be achieved upon the completion of the following main investigations:

1. High temperature corrosion
2. Steam oxidation
3. Creep resistance

If the final state of the material complies with the design requirements, such development will offer EEC a major breakthrough in the design of ultra-super-critical coal fired power plant.
