Resultados aprovechables

Due to the ever increasing importance of condition monitoring and diagnostics for rotating machinery, new online rotordynamic parameter identification methods and techniques were developed for fluid-handling rotating machinery, using artificial rotor excitations, which can reduce the probability of misdiagnosing malfunctions. The following tasks were carried out: specifications of malfunctions to be diagnosed (a database holding information on installed rotating equipment, failures and corrective actions taken which was used for generating specifications for future online diagnostic capabilities); development of new online identification techniques (inverse force and inverse pressure identification methods and rotor crack detection and nonlinear rotor system identification techniques); development of fluid models for motion dependent interaction forces of machine components (zeroth and first order models for high-specific-speed impellers that predict the forces on rotating and whirling impellers); component testing towards motion dependent interaction forces and moments (hybrid bearing testing, rotordynamic identification of coefficients of a high-specific-speed impeller and pressure pulsation identification measurements); development exciter technology (development of exciter technology, which resulted into a conceptual design of a prototype artificial (portable) field exciter); development experimental test rig (rotor-bearing forces could be measured directly by load cells and another indirect force measurement technique was installed based on flux sensing); experimental testing of all new online identification techniques for diagnostic capabilities (inverse force as inverse pressure identification methods were tested and rotor modal analysis techniques were investigated); development of new online diagnostic schemes (two different diagnostic schemes have been developed, the first to tackle problems with existing machines, the second to be used for monitoring of newly installed units); evaluation of diagnostic capabilities (the experimental rotor modal analysis proved to be technically feasible as was demonstrated by the tests on the boiler feed pump with active magnetic bearings); field test exciter (a portable electro-magnetic artificial exciter was used on the booster and the main pump of a power-station boilerfeed pump train).
