Exploitable results
An integrated systems design (ISD) approach has been developed for use during the marine platform design and build process. ISD reduces the cost, time scale and risk associated with these processes. ISD uses a computer aided design (CAD) simulation tool to simulate and test the interactive functions of marine platform equipment and the associated bridge and engine room displays. An object orientated database of marine platform equipment and an equipment networking tool have also been developed. Work on the project is now complete to a prototype stage.
A market assessment is being carried out of the equipments database and it is expected that the final product would be distributed to licensees in the form of a CD-ROM.
