FLEXBOTIC : FLEXIBLE MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS INTEGRATING DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE SMALL-LOT PRODUCTION

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Exploitable results

The technology studied during the Flexbotic project permits the production of different models of cars using the same production line. The system is able to start its work from the design of the piece that has to be assembled and uses, as a basis for the weld programming, the geometry of a computer aided design (CAD) file. Flexbotic, using a cell controller connected with computer aided process planning (CAPP), CAD and robotic computer aided design (ROBCAD) systems, is an interesting solution for automation in small lot production and can be considered the first application of this technology in production of low volumes.
Research has been carried out in the following areas: know how on how to use external sensors with a Siemens RCM 3-dimensional controller for influencing the location of the workpiece and the lcp during the execution of a robot program; sensor devices for workpiece and tool measurement; communication between robot controller and external devices.
