Resultados aprovechables

A methodology and accompanying computer system are being developed for improving the effectiveness of ultrasonic inspections of engineering components of complex geometry following manufacture and during service. This methodology encompasses both the design of inspections, to achieve quantified capability in defect detection and sizing, and the quantitative evaluation of inspection results. All modules can either be controlled by the so-called master process, or they may be used stand-alone. The latter may be useful for batch applications or time consuming computations. The following modules have been developed: a low level library to access UDEF files conveniently (the graphical front-end of this library is the UDEF editor); the visualization library; the the Master Control Process, which is a dispatcher for other modules; the Modelling Modules EFIT and MGTD; the following Reconstruction Modules Central Beam Approximation, FT-SAFT and 3D-SAFT, FTET and Broadband Holography; a module to generate scan paths and one which allows optimization of scan paths for a given inspection situation; a module which allows one to extract features from reconstructed images; two small data conversion modules (one converts radio frequency, RF, signals to analytic signals and vice versa, the other one converts RF signals to time-amplitude couples).
