New optical composite materials are needed to achieve dynamic control of light and of the energy transmission properties of glazed systems. Electrochromism (EC) is a promising technique for controlling transmittance and altering colour using electric voltage switching. The specific aim was to develop a fast response EC device on a polymeric substrate (PET), based on sputtered coatings a dye and a polymeric electrolyte.
