The project's intention was to improve natural gas vehicles (NGVa) concerning function, quality and costs. The project was in line with the EUCAR "The Automotive Research and Technological Development" - Master Plan, addressing several long-term strategic objectives of the European car industry such as environmental sustainability, emission reduction and cost competitiveness. The work on NG composition effects on engine operation and resulting demands on NG compositions for automotive use was also pre-normative.
