Outdoors Active Noise Control Technologies

The objectives of the Silence Light Research and
Development programme is to develop and evaluate a new
technology of Active Noise Control for public or private
outdoors living spaces exposed to transportation noise
The validation will be done on noise associated with High
Speed Trains and Low flying Aircraft. The Silence Light
Programme is a direct response to a continuously growing
demand of practical solutions by local communities and
urban and suburban residents exposed to high noise levels
created by public mass transportation sytems. The
program shall cover the necessary development in
controlling software, transduction technologies and
related supporting structures (street lamps and/or bus
shelters). Silence Light is an attempt to achieve Outdoor
Noise Control at the receptor position. This technology
will be developped in a general frame that should
garantee a practical wide diffusion towards customers
(whether utilities, local authorities or individuals)
with a clear commitment to achieve high efficiency, nice
design and low cost. The demonstration of the Silence
Light technology will be performed in sites offering a
typical combined high noise level environment (TGV and
low flying aircraft).
