Exploitable results

In the automotive market one of the main goals is to anticipate the consumer needs with new functionalities, for the most part developed using electronic systems, having innovative cost-effective solutions. To be competitive it is fundamental the reduction of the product cost and of the production time, whilst aiming at high product quality. The increasing role that electronics is going to play in modern vehicles together with the growth of product diversification (expansion of vehicle configurations due to different installed options) are driving the automotive industries to use multiplexing wiring systems in order to reduce the product cost. This allows a more flexible functional partitioning with a better physical allocation of the intelligent parts in units and actuation devices. The units, based on micro-controller devices, implement the functional requirements of the system using a distributed intelligent approach, exchanging information through a network. On the basis of these needs a new method to design, analyze and to maintain different complex on-board electrical and electronic architectures and a software framework, to apply the method, have been developed.
