Exploitable results
The Project has clearly demonstrated that the FFRESHeX System is capable of scanning continually pipeline welds at resolutions which match/exceed conventional X-ray film. The Project has also shown that combining the Ultrasonic inspection of the weld on the same time base results in improvements in the reliable detection of defects in welds. Using data fusion to combine the radiographic and ultrasonic data has shown that a dramatic increase in the level of confidence of defect detection can be achieved.
