ARMMS has published data formatted to answer the potential users fundamental questions. These are shown below with some of the major network results mapped against them.
- What is agility and why do we need it? (The business case).
- How do you assess agility? (Agility Matrix & Agility Classification).
- Strategies for increasing agility (Agility Promotion and Reuseable, Reconfigurable & Scalable System Principles).
- How much agility is appropriate and how much is it worth? (Cost-Benefit issues and analysis methods).
- Design.
- Modularise/ design a modular machine (Strategies, MFD, Idef, Fluxes).
- Design a module/Include a module in a design (3D CAD, Parametric Design -Assemblies - and cross platform transfer, Analysis, reliability and Maintainability).
- Specify, select and compare modules (Neutral Description Method/ Snowflake comparator/Filter System for complex multi-variant selection).
Significant original ARMMS work is indicated in parentheses. The remaining tools and methods are adaptations of pre-existing materials. The work has been undertaken by groups of ARMMS partners in targeted actions. Descriptions of the methods and prototype tools are available on the ARMMS web site.
