Objective
This project regards the development of an intelligent modular range of protection equipment for a range of electrical devices and machinery, such as motors and generators etc.. The system will facilitate both local protection and diagnostic facilities of the particular electrical unit(s) whilst communicating relevant information and parameters over an industrial system ( i.e. Field bus ) to a central controller if required. Current protection systems are limited to those based on fifty year old technology, such as thermal overload devices or fuses, or conversely, high cost specifically designed systems that tend to be used in isolation due to incompatibility or poor interfacing with other control systems. Therefore development of such a modular family of protection and diagnostic products will provide industry with a system with a high degree of flexibility, ease of use and compatibility at a highly economical cost.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
