Objective
Market requirements for new vessels are for a combination of higher speed and efFiciency. The EUROFEEDER, a common hull form and propulsion system to be used in different high speed displacement vessels such as, container ships (27-30), passenger cruise ships (<26), ferries & ro-ro/passenger vessels (ro-pax) (c28 knots), will fulfil the following requirements: - Solve technical problems of existing designs, i.e. propeller induced vibrations and cavitation erosion - Increased cargo carrying capacities / lightweight - Decreased building costs and time - Decreased propulsive power requirements - Enable construction of high speed ro-pax vessels with perfect manoeuvrability. Although the EUROFEEDER project concentrates on the ro-pax market, it will be a model for other vessel types, to reach the above goals, through application of . Hydrodynamically and structurally optimised Podded Propulsor R&D of a merchant electrical motor designed for a Podded Propulsor . Hydrodynamically new type of hull suitable for a Podded Propulsion System to enable high speed Shipbuilding know-how for technical development Market requirements for new vessels are for a combination of higher speed and efFiciency.
