Objetivo
The objective of the research is to develop, test and implement a new process, stretching, which can stretch plastic materials biaxially, i.e in radial as well as axial direction. When developed and implemented the new manufacturing process will make existing traditional and advanced materials more widely avaiable to a broad range of industries, where it will replace materials with less ideal properties, especially with respect to environment, resource consumption and work hazards. The research project will specially focus on materials in the medical sector, alternatives to PVC and Latex. The new process will be developed to be able to process expensive engineering plastics in a way, that the end product will comprise a very small amount of plastic only, due to the axial or biaxial orientation of the material. Examples of products are, medical tubing, medical bags (blood, IV, etc) catheters and medical devices, syringes, medical bottles and containers.
