Objetivo
Fluidized bed furnaces gain a growing importance compared with conventional furnaces, for example because of their higher efficiencies and because of a broader spectrum of applicable fuels. The today applied lining materials in fluidized bed furnaces are hardly able to match the occuring combined wear, corrosive and thermal loads. In order to prolong service life and to reduce down-times there is a great need for improvements. The intended research project shall pave the way for the application of advanced ceramic materials. The objective of the project is the development of easy-to-construct and easy-to-serve ceramic linings for the burner-zone, the superheater pipings, the collectors and of all applied feeding and recycling nozzles. Since the technology of fluidized bed combustion is a European domain, any innovative development in this field will strengthen the existing leading role. It has to be expected that fiuidized bed combustion will gain importance all over the world, because it is especially suitable for the disposal of problematic substances as for example wood shred, paper residues and sewage sludge. There is a significant trend towards monolithic ceramic linings in the steel industry and it is quite certain, that other industries will follow. The research will be carried out by a multidisciplinary team of research institutes and specialized SME.
