Objective
The research project that BF Engineering intends to undertake aims to develop a new manner of coil package by setting up an automated plant which utilises plastics materials specially studied for the purpose and the application of the vacuum technique. The project for an automatic Coil packaging method will allow the introduction of new materials (polymer derivates instead of plasticised paper or steel) and new automatic manufacturing technologies in a critical production process which is now carried out completely by hand. This will drastically reduce the risks of accident connected with the large weights and dimensions involved, while the possibility of recycling the packing materials will reduce environmental problems of waste disposal. Better performances at lower costs will considerably improve the operative efficiency of the companies involved in the project. The main object is to improve the quality, safety and reliability of the packing, to optimise labor efficiency, minimise the risks of accidents and reduce adverse effect on the environment. In particular, it is intended to - automatise the process of coil packaging, which at present is carried out by hand, thus doubling the output rates of the systems generally being employed; - by the use of vacuum techniques. make the package totally safe against impact and above all against the risk of oxidation: - considerably reduce the risks of accidents during packing and unpacking operations; - make the package completely and easily recycleable, thanks to the use of special plastic polymers for the protective covering
