Objective
Conventional processes for cutting and machining natural stone (marble, granite, etc) generate wasted materials which are, at present, rejected and non recycled. Therefore the consequences are both the environmental problem caused by the accumulation of this waste and the fact that no use is made of a sub-product that might have a wide range of applications in many and diverse industrial sectors. The objectives of this project are the Research and Development of the appropriate technologies to, first, reduce the amount of waste generated in the cutting/machining processes by optimising the process itself and second, to recycle the remaining waste, reusing it as a raw material (unmodified or treated) for other industries making use of it in applications such as building materials (clay-based, concrete, asphalt...) additive for wood pulp, plastics (PP, PVC..)
