Objective
In Infrared laser equipment for medical and industrial applications, it would be an important improvement to adopt flexible and small delivery. devices for transmitting the energy to the output of the handpieces. The project would permit to reach the know how for producing new devices in the form of flexible hollow guide for substituting the present articulated arms that are expensive and cumbersome. The project will take advantage from the activiting of an University Laboratory which has developed a prototipy of a hollow guide transmission system of energy of CO2 laser. Two main problems must be solved. The first one is related to the material to be used for obtaining hollow waveguides will low insertion loss. The second one is related to the technology to be adopted for constructing reliable flexible delivery system.
