Ground Based Traction Power Supply

Objective

The objective of the research programme is to define, design and validate a ground based power supply system, applicable to all electrically powered urban transport systems (tramways, GLT, light rail); This system constitutes an innovation response to limit the insertion requirements of urban public transport systems: -by canceling the visual impact of O.H.L. (city center) -by reducing the height and with clearance of the platform (tunnel, bridge) -by suppressing the foundation works necessary to O.H.L. (bridge works). Ground based power supply relies on a discontinuous segmented 3rd rail switched on and off as the vehicle moves along the track. The system is based on select state swiching devices with built in safety features and does not require any particular infrastructure or civil works.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
