Objective
The aim of the project is the design, construction and testing of a preproduction series including N°17 absorption-type reversible heat-pumps, with two rated power values (11 kW cooling; 25 kW cooling).
The design will be focused at :
- minimisation of costs
- improvement of reliability and safety with respect to competitors
- market-oriented overall characteristics.
The scope is to gather suitable data and results of testing so as to allow the proposers (SRS) to start with a series production activity and with product commercialisation. The energy technology objective is the dissemination of a technology (absorption combined with heat pumps) which allows a considerable energy saving and a reduction of pollutants emissions with respect to traditional systems of heating and cooling for buildings.
The process consists in a thermodynamic cycle which allows to absorb heat from a source at lower temperature and to transfer it to another source at higher temperature. This is achieved through a series of components, prevailingly static. During winter operation (heating mode) the pure ammonia vapour out flowing from the generator is condensed in the condenser. Therefore the liquid ammonia expands in a water cooled evaporator. The ammonia vapour is mixed with a low ammonia solution stream coming form the genrator; the mixture is cooled in the absorber, the condenser and the absorber are cooled by water-glicol mixture of the user circuit. The solution, outflowing from the absorber, is pumped by the diaphragm pump into the generator. The evaporator, during the heating service, is cooled by water of an intermediate circuit; then water is cooled in a finned heat exchanger by the external air.
During summer operation (cooling mode), the evaporator is cooled by the water-glicol mixture of the user circuit, while the condenser and the absorber are cooled by the water of the intermediate circuit. An eight-way valves switches from winter operation to summer operation the two water circuits.
Main plant components are :
- natural gas burner; generator with distilling column; water cooled condenser; solution heat exchanger; regenerating heat exchanger; evaporator; water cooled absorber; diaphragm pump; air cooled finned heat exchanger; water pump; electrical components.
The application of the machine includes heating of buildings; air conditioning of buildings heating and/or cooling of process fluids.
