SOLAR URBAN NEW HOUSING [PHASE 2]

Objective

Building 874 new dwellings in 11 cities, with an expected energy saving of 50% with respect to national standards, demonstrating the relevance of innovative technical measures to save energy and reduce CO2 emissions. Innovation: innovative technologies include advanced envelope materials, energy management systems, low electricity consumption HVAC, active and passive solar energy, natural lighting, fresh water saving.
The SUNH Thermie 96 Targeted Project, focuses on the construction of new housing, proposed by 10 different organisations settled in large cities throughout Europe, which can demonstrate an average energy saving of 50% when compared to the national standard of the 8 European countries involved. The consortium of 10 organisations is also committed to demonstrate the relevance of a series of technical measures to reduce CO2 emissions using different RUE and RES techniques. In the case of sites where the proposers are local authorities or housing associations with a direct link to their city or urban area, an effort will be made to integrate unemployed young people and make use of small to medium regional entreprises.

To demonstrate the role that European cities could play and the results that could be obtained through this SUNH project, each individual site will introduce at least one innovative technical solution such as advanced envelope materials, energy management systems, combined heat power, low electricity consumption (HVAC, lighting), active and passive solar energy, natural lighting and water saving.
