COGENERATION IN THE SERVICE SECTOR WITH DIFFERENT USES AND COOLING BY ABSORPTION, MONITORING AND DIDACTIC MODULE

Objetivo

Demonstration of techno-economic viability of cogeneration installations including the production of cooling in buildings for the apportation of services.
The buildings have been selected from different geographic locations to cover the behaviour of the systems under both Mediterranean and Continental climatic conditions, and also to be able the extrapolate the resulting experiences to the rest of the geography of Europe.
They will be implanted with computerized monitoring and control systems.
The systems will permit the achieving of the following results :
* Analysis of different cogeneration systems for different uses (hospitals, offices) and different climatologies (Mediterranean and Continental).
* Introduction of absorption for the production of cooling with motors.
* Reduction of CO2, NOx and CFC.

The carring through of four cogeneration projects in four existing buildings within the Service Sector, including the installation of absorption cooling systems and incorporating a central monitoring system that permits a better operational control and investment financing by third parties.
A. COGENERATION IN THE MAJADAHONDA CALCULATING CENTRE (MADRID)
Building of 10.000 m2 whose principal use is for back-up of the Calculating Centre of the network of BANCO MAPFRE and insurance Companies.
A system has been foreseen, based upon a 750 kWe natural gas motorgenerator group with some recovery equipment that taking advantage of the residual thermal energy of the motor, provide hot water at 90 deg. C with a potential of 965,000 Kcal/h.
In summer, the heat is utilized in on absorption machine that gives out a frigorific potential of 670,000 Frig/h, operating in parallel with the conventional air-conditioning equipment.
The energy yield of the installations is 80.5%, avoiding 227.4 TOE/year and 2,521 Tn CO2/year, apart from reducing CFC and NOx emissions.
B. COGENERATION IN THE CAJA RURAL OF HUESCA
A newly constructed office building of five floors and capable of housing 501 employees.
A system has been foreseen based upon a natural gas cogeneration module of 210 kWe whose heat recovery equipment is to be found integrated in the base of the some module and wich provides hot water for the building at 90 deg. C with a potential of 299,500 Kcal/h.
The energy yield of the installation is 91.1% avoiding 104.7 TOE/year and 1,023 Tn CO2/year, as well as reducing NOx emissions.
D. COGENERATION IN THE HOSPITAL CIVIL OF NAVARRA
Building of 60,000 m2 and on actual occupation capacity of 536 beds.
A system has been foreseen based upon a natural gas motorgenerator group of 1,000 kWe, with heat recovery equipment that provide 0.91 Tn/h of saturated steam at 8 Kg/cm2, 550,000 Kcal/h of hot water and 845,000 Kcal/h of water for heating.
The energy yield of the installation is 82%,avoiding 433.5 TOE
year and 3345 Tn CO2/year, apart from reducing emissions of NOx.
E. COGENERATION IN THE TECHNOLOGICAL CENTRE OF SAN AGUSTIN DE GUADALIX (MADRID)
Building of technical offices and laboratories belonging to the MAPFRE organization.
A telecontrol and telemanagement centre will be installed for the cogeneration systems previously cited, these being situated in the very building, this adapting the expert system of monitoring and control by telemanagement developed in the demonstration project IN./00078/90/ES.
Also a dydactic and experimentational module will be created to simulate to performance of the cogeneration installations, adapting it especially to that of San Agustin de Guadalix.
