Objective
Dissemination of a Thermie project approved in 1992 for the energy optimization in Chamartin Railway Station, it being applied in the Sants Station of Barcelona.
The characteristics of the project differ in as much as the station does not present a demand for heating because of the good climate and the existence of internal gains coming from of practically constant sources of cooling throughout the year.
It is hoped to prove, with the aim of disseminating its development for the rest of the centres, the possibility of covering the demands for heating and cooling as well as electrical and energy demands.
The support of the Thermie Project 92 has meant that RENFE is considering once analyzed its technical viability, the development of a new study, although it allows lower profitability and greater difficulty in its execution.
- cogeneration with continuous absorption chiller simple effect
- utilization in a ralway station
- complement to the Thermie project BU/00198/91/ES
- central interconnection system
- elimination of the emergency commitment in the face of local systems
- utilization of third party financing (TFP)
- Definitive introduction of cogeneration for air-conditioning in a railway station as a complement and dissemination of a Thermie project 92 that concentrated on a mixed system (heating)
- Demonstrate the technical viability in the face of any demand
- Utilization of a system with motogenerator in an absorption chiller
- Reduction of CO2, CFC, NOx
- RENFE is designing a series of stations for the high speed network and its connection with the rest of the Community Countries, which must guarantee the dissemination of the project
- Inclusion of thrid party financing in cogeneration projects in the service sector with public companies for the later diffusion to other sectors.
La Estación de Sants is one of RENFE's main railway stations in Barcelona, as much for the volume as for the transit of passengers, trains and goods. This station is also interconnected with the city's underground system, for which reason the traffic is even more intense.
Its principle energy demands are centered on the consumption of electrical energy for lighting, power and air-conditioning. The consumption of fuel is almost non-existent, for the most part owing to the very low need for heating as a consequence of the climate of the area, the important thermal gain of this type of installation and also of the air temperature in the area of the tunnels where the trains circulate - this air reaches a minimum of 25 °C in winter and a maximum of 33°C in summer.
ELECTRICAL DEMAND :
- consumption supply :
contract number Utility power contract tariff hourly class
3078576 1050 kW 3.1 type 3
2482255 1760 kW 2.1 type 3
- reserve supply : contract number Utility power contract tariff hourly class
2482257 1050 kW 1.1 type 3
2482258 710 kW 1.1 type 3
The consumption (MWH)of these supplies in 1992 are distributed in the foolowing way :
Peak E. Base E. Low E. ACTIVE E. REACTIVE E.(MVAR)
3078576 1003 2923,9 1650,8 5577,7 839,6
2482255 1148,8 3500,9 1734,4 4649,7 3964
Annual electrical energy bill: 165244000 PTS
THERMAL DEMAND :
For all that, the demand for gasoil during 1992 was of 30000Its., which supposes approx. 230800 hPCL (real) demanded by the installation in the air-conditioning banks. This consumption however, in an installation of these dimensions, is a very insignifiant thermal demand
Annual thermal energy bill : 1275000 PTS
