Objective
The project proposed consists in the development of theory and methodology, and in analyses of complex spectra of nonrigid molecules to support the interpretation remote sensing measurements of atmospheric pollutants. This project shows a close compatibility with the existing EC project ISORAC2 to which it is intended to be associated. There is no doubt that it will contribute to the understanding and solving problems which are faced in the analyses of high resolution molecular spectra involved in the ozone depletion cycle.
The strongly positive feature of the proposal is orientation to the complex spectra of nonrigid molecules where the standard theory does not work properly. The studies will be focused on the hydrogen peroxide and ammonia molecules and some other of the ISORAC2 species.
Therefore, the contributions suggested for treating these problems by formulation of more advanced effective Hamiltonians and dipole moment operators together with the development of corresponding software is highly desirable. It is expected that the developed methodoloy and computer programs will be useful for other laboratories collaborating within the ISORAC2 project.
The proposal also contains an experimental part which is focused on accurate measurements of absolute line intensities and line profiles. There is still lack of this kind of data which are critical for a quantitative interpretation of remote sensing experiments. The development of such an experimental base may be important for training of young scientists in the Central European countries.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
