Objective
This additional proposal will be from the initial contract a supplement of the leaching test and an harmonization of various technics.
The participant describes the objectives and expected achievements of this additional project as follow :
"To obtain an overview over the leaching and migration properties of radioactive substances and heavy metals, from the waste dump at the Sillamäe uranium extraction facility, the extent of pollution and migration of radionuclides in the nearby envirOnment ; also to estimate the load of radioactive metals to the Finnish Gulf.
The results will be used to take practicaL steps to lessen the pollution and to reduce the possibility of accidental danger of pollution. It is of special importance to establish the risks for the Baltic and North Sea in cas the dam would burst or excessive leaks would develop."
The duration of this additional contract is 2 years and it will be closed in the same time as the original contract because we have to ask a delay, without financial contribution from CEC, following sample elaboration before leaching.
