Objective
Based on the plan of the original proposal to make use of the financial and human resources in research and development in the area of high temperature superconductor thin films an extenssion of the network " hts thin films " is planned. The primary goal of the network is to speed up the use of the tremendous potential of high temperature superconductor thin films in current applications in microelectronics and a future superconductor electronics.
Members from both, academia and industry will link existing research and development efforts together.
THE knowledge base of skills and expertise of the members of the existing network will be broadened substantially by the collaboration with partners from the central and eastern European countries.
Special experimental skills from the eastern partners will extend the scope of the original project in different respects.
The strength of the network in the material base will be enlarged by activities e.g. laser plasma diagnosis for pulsed laser deposition, nondestructive material testing by millimeter wave analysis with high lateral resolution and noise measurements.
The efforts directed to device applications will be enriched by the planned investigations of time dependend superconducting / normal state switching mechanisms, the fabrication and performance analysis of several active and passive devices.
Furthermore, the extension of the project will form a further bridge to bring people from east and west together and form new links of the scientific cooperation between the partners of the network.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
