Objectif WE PROPOSE A SYSTEMATIC STUDY OF THE BROAD LINE PROFILES IN AGN. STUDIES OF THE EMISSION LINE PROFILES PROVIDE INFORMATION ON THE SPATIAL AND KINEMATIC PROPERTIES OF THE EMITTING GAS. MOREOVER STATISTICAL DATA ON PROFILE PROPERTIES CAN PROVIDE DIRECT CONSTRAINTS ON MODELS OF THE EMITTING REGION. WE SHALL PUT SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON LINE ASYMMETRIES, THAT CAN SHED LIGHT ON THE ACCRETION DISK MODEL FOR THE CENTRAL ENGINE OF AGN, AND ON VELOCITY DIFFERENCES THAT HAVE BEEN OBSERVED AMONG THE BROAD LINE REGION LINES AND BETWEEN THE BRL LINES AND THE NARROW LINE REGION LINES. OUR GOALS ARE THREEFOLD: 1) TO EFFECTIVELY PARAMETRIZE THE LINE PROFILES; 2) TO USE THE DERIVED PARAMETERS TO CONSTRAIN CURRENT AGN MODELS; 3) To SEARCH FOR CORRELATIONS AMONG THE DERIVED PARAMETERS, OR WITH OTHER OBSERVABLES, THAT MIGHT PROVIDE FURTHER CLUES TO THE AGN PROCESS.
