Objective
This proposal extends and completes the HCM project on "Motion Analysis for Advanced Image Communication Systems".
The two laboratories which wish to join the above project have an important experience on this theme and have already collaborated with some laboratories in the Network.
The contribution of the new partners from the Central Europe will strengthen the work for making robust and automatic pel-recursive motion estimation algorithms by adapting the parameters of the algorithm to the content of the image sequence.
Multiresolution motion analysis is a task necessitating a great research effort.
New proposers for this axis ensures the successful completion of this task. An important extension is proposed for the foundamental task of implementation of algorithms on existing computing architectures. The additional contribution concerns hardware implementations specially designed for efficient motion computing using dedicated devices and available processors (e.g. transputers).
In conclusion, this proposal contains three axes of research which are in perfect harmony with the existing tasks of the project and complete these tasks where original methods and new experience is absolutely necessary.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
