Occupational Exposures and Congenital Malformations

Objective

The proposal is to add to the original data base (multicentric case-control study on congental anomalies), an additional recruitment of at least 150 cases of major malformation and 150 controls born in Slovakia. The specificity of the work enviromment in Eastern Europe (many women work in industrial jobs) make this additional contribution very valuable. Some groups of malformations (especially oral clefts and cardiac anomalies) will be big enough to allow specific analyses for Slovakia in addition to the joint analyses planned in the original project.
