Objective
The current proposal will contribute to joule ii project: jou2-ct93-0277 in the following areas: material properties fe-analysis and testing of blade and hub extender, and, partially, design of hub extender. Thus, long-term deformability data for composite materials to be used in advanced wind turbines will be determined; the effect of moisture and temperature will be revealed. The data obtained will contribute to the design of advanced rotor blades. %lThe structural analysis part of the original proposal will be complimented by implimentation of the material and structural non-linearity in the static fe-analysis of flexible composite blades, validation of the applicability of linear analysis. Eigenfrequency analysis of the system of advanced hub extender and blade will be performed in order to study the effect of flexible structural elements. %lTheoretical calculations will be verified by blade and hub testing. Full-scale blade and hub extender fatigue tests will be organized and carried out using several actuators to simulate accurately service loading of flexible blade-extender system.
Data generated will contribute to the understanding of flexible bladeextender response and improvement of design. Response parameters measured will be used for verification of the fe-analysis. Durability of hub extender and rotor blade will be determined.
