Inductive Logic Programming Pan-European Scientific Network

Objective

The aim of ILPNET is to stimulate the development, coordination, communication, mobility and exchange of results of European researchers in inductive logic programming (ILP) and to disseminate the research results to a wider research community. ILP is a research area at the intersection of machine learning and logic programming, whose goal is the development of the theory and practical algorithms for inductive learning in the first-order representation formalism of logic programs. ILPNET will build new communication and dissemination channels and make them available to Central and Eastern European ILP researchers.

European links:

ILPNET is closely linked to the ESPRIT project number 6020 (Inductive Logic Programming). A cooperation exists also with two European Networks of Excellence: MLNet (7115) and COMPULOG (6810).

PROGRESS AND RESULTS

ILPNET publishes an electronic newsletter and has established electronic mailing lists of ILPNET project managers, newsletter subscribers (250 addresses) and individuals interested in ILP.

Prototype databases of scientific publications, software and data have been collected and can be accessed electronically, as can a list of ILP-related books.

INFORMATION DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES AND EXPLOITATION

A 40-page information booklet about ILPNET nodes includes names of researchers, research areas, descriptions of current research, recent publications and addresses.
