Innovative IT System for the Improvement of Security and Reliability of Power Systems in Eastern Europe

Objective

The project aim is to design and implement parts of an information and control system appropriate to the particular requirements of Eastern European electrical power systems.

The quality of the energy supply, in terms of voltage stability and harmonics, directly affects the quality of industrial production. At the same time, the increasing demand for environmental protection and energy saving requires new approaches, applying powerful information and control systems.

Initial work has concentrated on data acquisition and assessment of the state-of-the-art. For the second year the development of software for intelligent alarm-handling, state estimation and units for data pre-processing at the sub-station level are planned. The third year of the project is intended for testing and installation of prototypes.

PROGRESS AND RESULTS

Main activites in the first year were:

development of the field processing unit for data acquisition
analysis of world trends and Polish accomplishments in the fields of EMS at the level of the power distribution grid company
measurements during a CENTREL grid test and the evaluation of these measurements.

Project work was supported by an exchange of researchers and by two workshops.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
