Adaptive and Predictive Control with Physical Constraints

Objetivo

The project aims to the development of new approaches in the field of model based predictive and adaptive control, identification and optimisation, and in particular:
development of GPC/LQG (Generalised Predictive Control/Linear Quadratic Gaussian) algorithms with physical constraints and investigation of properties of these algorithms (analysis of robustness, stability and feasibility)
augmentation of GPC to distributed parameter systems
development and investigation of new identification methods for adaptive controllers
development and investigation of non-gradient optimisation methods applied to GPC cost functions with soft constraints. These methods will be used in multi-objective design of adaptive and predictive controllers, and applied to the control of industrial plant.

INFORMATION DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES

The industrial partner in the project has experience in the application of control systems and algorithms to energy consuming plant and will be in a position to exploit the results.
