Objective
The objectives of this project are to create guidelines for effective design and construction of buses, and to develop a bus expert design system with a graphical interface. Work will include:
development of a model of a bus including its components such as wheels, tyres, axles, engine, steering system, passenger cab, pantograph and passengers
computer simulations using the model for essential driving situations and conditions
experimental investigations on test beds for validation and optimisation of the computational results
determination of a suitable method to couple finite element mesh (FEM) data with data from multibody systems (MBS) in order to reduce FEM data
computations and experimental investigations of stress spectra, properties of materials and fatigue life estimation.
INFORMATION DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES
Results will be used within partner organisations involved in bus design, and presented and demonstrated at regional, national and international exhibitions.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
