Resilient polypropylene carpets.

Objectif

Polypropylene carpets can undergo permanent deformation of the piles and change of the aspect during storage of rolls of tufted carpet and during use of the carpet due to lack of resilience. Resilience is the ability of the pile of carpets to return to its original state after deformation. Problems due to lack of resilience seriously affect carpet quality. The project will allow to manufacture polypropylene carpets with better resilience properties. Experimental research must lead to a better understanding of the influence of carpet construction and yarn properties on resilience. A test method will be developed so as to test polypropylene yarns on resilience properties prior to carpet manufacturing.
The project also aims at the development of polypropylene yarns with better resilience properties.
